Interim Senior Accountant.

Our client operates in the energy sector.

In this role as Interim Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for:

1. Deputy to the Accounting & Reporting Manager

Act as the primary back-up for the Accounting & Reporting Manager, including the ability to manage period-end closings autonomously.
Ensure continuity of accounting and reporting activities during absences and peak workload periods.
Take ownership of selected accounting and reporting topics to support ongoing improvement initiatives and process optimization.
2. Accounting & Financial Control

• Coordinate and monitor accounting activities within the ERP environment.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and oversee the accuracy of financial records.
• Manage VAT, tax-related matters, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including Belgian GAAP and IFRS.
• Contribute to the monitoring and improvement of key financial and operational processes.
• 3. Financial Reporting

• Coordinate and execute periodic financial closings.
• Prepare financial reporting packages, including actual results, forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
• Support management reporting and contribute to the preparation of financial performance reviews.
• 4. Stakeholder Coordination

Collaborate closely with teams across Accounting, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Controlling, and Reporting.
Coordinate with finance colleagues across multiple locations and entities.
Liaise with shared service centers and external stakeholders when required.
Support finance-related administrative and compliance processes.

Your qualifications for this interim assignment are as follows:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or finance.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and IFRS.
• Proven hands-on experience with SAP (FI module).
• Demonstrated ability to manage a complete closing cycle independently.
• Experience working in a complex, multi-entity, or international environment.
• Comfortable operating in a changing environment and supporting process improvement initiatives.
• Fluent in Dutch and/or French, with a good command of English.
• Autonomous, proactive, hands-on, and detail-oriented.
• Strong analytical skills and a rigorous approach to financial accuracy.
